NORTH OF NOWHERE, my first full-length stand alone thriller, was released last week and I’m happy that so many readers have enjoyed it, resulting in a 4.15 average rating on Goodreads and 4.6 average rating on Amazon. THANK YOU readers and reviewers for helping to spread the word about my book. I appreciate you!
Just today I received the final cover for THE MISSING WITNESS, and I wanted to share with my readers before you saw it out in the wild. I just posted on Facebook and Instagram, and thought I’d share more detailed thoughts here on my blog.
What do you think?
This cover evokes the feelings I want … of suspense and mystery. I love the colors. I also appreciate that my publisher has moved to brand this series in a more organic way. While I liked the covers for THE THIRD TO DIE and TELL NO LIES, they are distinctly different in look and feel than the three more recent books.
A book cover should first be eye-catching — you want readers to stop and want to learn more. The cover should also tell you the genre — suspense, romance, science fiction — as well as the tone of the book. Is it light? Dark? Serious? Thrills or slow burn? But ultimately, the story has to stand on it’s own, no matter how fabulous the cover.
Check out this bookmark I made this spring:
I love the settings displayed on the cover — you get a sense of place. The San Juan Islands. The Louisiana Bayou. And with the newest book, Los Angeles.
In THE MISSING WITNESS, Kara Quinn returns to Los Angeles to testify against human trafficker David Chen — the reason she was forced to leave LA and work with the FBI.
Nothing goes as planned.
I hope you love the latest Quinn & Costa thriller, which is available for pre-order now! If you haven’t caught up, you still have time.
In January, I’ll be writing a more detailed story behind the story — I interviewed more people for THE MISSING WITNESS than I have for the first four Quinn & Costa books combined. Seriously! In the process, I made new friends and reconnected with old.
What do you think of series branding? Do you like the direction of the Quinn & Costa series as much as I do?
I love this series and love the direction the books are going especially as the series continues, characters grow and more. The locations and crimes are intriguing and I hope there's more after the next book.
I love the direction Q and C is taking because I never know what to expect next. Your books keep me reading and guessing!
