Regan Merritt first showed up in THE SORORITY MURDER where she helped a college student with his cold case podcast investigating the three-year-old murder of Candace Swain, a nursing student who disappeared then showed up dead eight days later. Set in Regan’s hometown of Flagstaff, Arizona, Regan is home after she quit her job as a U.S. Marshal following the murder of her young son.
DON’T OPEN THE DOOR gives Regan closure. She knows who killed her son — a man who was killed in prison shortly after he agreed to talk to Regan about Chase’s murder. She always suspected the murder wasn’t as clear-cut as the FBI seemed to believe, but after the killer died, she feared she’d never know the truth. After her husband divorced her, she had to leave for her own sanity and to heal.
Now, nearly a year later, her former boss Tommy Granger leaves her a cryptic message on her phone. When she calls him back, she learns that he was murdered only minutes after he called her. Determined to find the truth about Tommy and her son, she returns to Virginia where she runs her own investigation, outside of the Marshal’s service and outside of the FBI. What she doesn’t expect is that her ex-husband knows far more about not only Tommy’s murder, but their son’s murder — and he’s not talking.
